Tigers Drop Two in Final Day of Texan Invitational

STEPHENVILLE, Texas– The West Alabama Volleyball team faced the monumental task of facing its fourth and fifth ranked opponents for the final day of the Texan Invitational hosted by Tarleton State. In the end, the Tigers dropped the final two contests of the tournament. 
 
The Tigers (0-5) faced #19 Cal State-Los Angeles in the morning match and fell in straight sets 25-19, 25-15, and 26-24. The Tigers held leads in the first and third games but were unable to hold off the national ranked Eagles.
 
Taylor Donato led UWA with 13 kills. Grace Harris totaled 23 assists and led defensively with 13 digs. Rebecca Johnson added 10 digs.
 
Karla Santos had 16 kills and Alejandra Negron added 13 kills to lead CSLAU to victory.
 
In the second match, #6 Minnesota-Duluth (25-20, 25-13, 25-14) claimed a straight win over the Tigers.
 
Donato led with seven kills to lead the Tigers and posted seven digs. Harris posted 17 assists and Johnson led with 10 digs.
 
Minnesota-Duluth was led by a trio of players as Hanna Meyer had 12 kills while Kate Berg and Abby Thor both finished with 11 kills each. 
 
With the Texan Invitational in the rear-view mirror, West Alabama will now focus on a trip to Florence, South Carolina for a tournament hosted by Francis Marion University. Game links for that tournament will be available on uwaatheltics.com.
