Women’s Hoops Preview – UAH, Lee

WEST ALABAMA
The Tigers are 7-6 overall and 2-5 in the Gulf South Conference coming off an 0-2 week in league play with losses at Christian Brothers (80-74) last Thursday and Union (85-71) Saturday to put the team on a three-game slide. However, UWA is 6-2 at home.
 
ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE
The Chargers are 7-7 overall and 4-4 in league competition after splitting last week's game with a win at Shorter (87-71) on Thursday and a 70-47 road loss to #9 Lee Saturday afternoon. UAH is 3-3 on the road.
 
LEE
Ranked #9 in the latest coaches' poll and #7 in the D2SIDA poll, the Lady Flames enter the weekend with a 15-1 overall record and a 7-1 record in the GSC coming off a 75-59 road win last Thursday against West Georgia and another win, this time at home against UAH, 70-47. Lee is currently 4-1 on the road.
 
COACHES
Rusty Cram is 59-92 (.391) in his sixth season at West Alabama, 322-355 (.477) in his 25th season as a collegiate head coach. Andrea Lemmond is 65-86 (.430) in her sixth season as a head coach all at Alabama Huntsville. Marty Rowe is 412-103. (.800) in his 16th season as head coach at Lee, 543-168 (.764) in his 22nd season as a collegiate coach.

STILL A GOOD WAY TO GO
While over half the schedule has been played, the Tigers enter the weekend still with the majority of the conference schedule remaining with 13 league games to be played and still plenty of chances to make up ground in the GSC standings. Currently, UWA is 10th in the league.
 
CAREER NIGHT (SO FAR)
Bria Dent went and had herself a day against Union Saturday. The sophomore guard from Birmingham, Alabama set career marks in points (28) and rebounds (17). Now the leading scorer for the Tigers, Dent is averaging a double-double and her seven so far this season are five off the national lead in the category.
 
BALLIN' ON THE BOARDS
The Tigers are among the top teams in rebounding averages. UWA is bringing in 31.1 defensive rebounds per game, which is 0.1 off the best mark in the conference, and averaging 15.1 offensive rebounds per game and that's good for fourth in the league. The team holds an 8.5 rebounding margin which is third best in the GSC.
 
THE OPPONENTS
UAH is scoring 68.0 points (9th) a night and allowing 67.4 points (10th) on average. Lee is scoring 74.1 points (4th) per game and has become the top defense in the GSC and allowing 55.2 points per night.
