West Alabama is 4-2, defeating Albany State in a single game and sweeping a doubleheader  over Emmanuel to open the season in Franklin Springs, Georgia. The Tigers dropped a rain-shorted decision to Miles College at midweek and then beat Georgia Southwestern two-of-three last weekend.

HOME AND AWAY
West Alabama is 2-0 on the road, 1-0 at neutral sites. Mississippi College is 3-3 at home and will complete a nine-game homestand to open the season with the Tigers.

THE COACHES

QUEST FOR 1K
The Tigers need just three wins to hand Coach Gary Rundles his 1,000th collegiate win as a head coach.

LAST MEETING
Mississippi College swept a doubleheader in Livingston last season, 13-7 and 8-2. The third game was a casualty of the weather.

SMEETON STREAKS
UWA shortstop Trevor Smeeton currently leads the team with a modest three-game hitting streak and has reached base in five straight games to lead the club in that category as well.

MULTIPLES
Right fielder Brayden Lyman is currently the Tiger leader in multiple hit games with three, while third baseman Gavin Rogers is out front with two multiple RBI games.

.300 CLUB
Second baseman Connor Christian and first baseman Taylor Clemmons are hitting .333 and .304, respectively, to lead the team among players who have a minimum of two plate appearances per game and have played in 75 percent of team games played, which are NCAA qualifying standards. Catcher Justin Booker is batting .333, but has played in just five of seven games, or 71 percent.

ADVANCEMENT
UWA first baseman Taylor Clemmons is tops on the club in success advancing runners with a .706 average. The Northport, Alabama senior has successfully advanced runners 12 times in 17 opportunities.

UP OR DOWN
Tiger RHP Peyton Warren leads the staff by recording 14 ground ball outs and 12 fly ball outs. Righty Mason Hollander is tied with Warren after coaxing 12 fly outs in the early season.

FAIRLY EFFICIENT WEEK
RHP Connor Brooks posted some impressive numbers last week while working five innings in relief, striking out 12, allowing just one earned run and two hits while opponents hit .just .111 off him.

UP NEXT
The Tigers open Gulf South Conference play at home against West Florida with a three-game series Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22. Friday's single game is set for 6 p.m. and first pitch for the Saturday doubleheader is 1 p.m.
