49 Honors Day Awards Go to UWA Student-Athletes

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Even though the annual University of West Alabama Honors Day convocation was not held this year due to precautions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the recognition for honor societies, leadership organizations, as well as academic or division scholar awards have been released with 49 awards going to Tiger student-athletes.

The University of West Alabama recognizes students for academic achievement and leadership each spring on Honors Day. Traditionally, the event is held on campus in mid-April, with students celebrating the day surrounded by friends, family, and faculty.

Softball and women's soccer led the way among Tiger athletic programs, collecting 35 of the 49 awards earned by 29 different UWA student-athletes. Softball earned the most with 19.

Women's soccer player Brianna Forrest collected four honors, followed by five Tigers with three each. Student-athletes earning three honors or awards were women soccer player Aliya Seebrat, men's soccer player Zachary Chu and softball players Chrissy Tubbs, Hailey Best and Caleigh Wallace.
