Men’s Soccer Falls to Delta State in GSC Matchup Friday Night

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama men's soccer team fell to Delta State 1-0 in a Gulf South Conference matchup Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers drop to 3-4 overall and are now 1-1 in GSC play. The Statesmen improved to 4-4-1 on the season and 2-3-0 in the conference. 

Neither team scored in the first half of the match, but Delta State jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second half in the 64th minute. DSU midfielder Tom Toulson scored for the Statesmen. 

The Tigers' goalie Harry Deveney recorded one save and allowed one goal in the 90 minutes of action. 

The Statesmen's goalkeeper Mattis Kloepper recorded four saves in the victory. 

West Alabama outshot Delta State by eight. UWA took 14 shots, four being on frame, while DSU took six shots, two being on frame. 

One yellow card and 22 fouls were called in the physical contest. The Statesmen were called 10 fouls while West Alabama was called 12.

The Tigers return to Tiger Stadium Sunday, Oct. 1 in a Gulf South Conference matchup against Mississippi College to close out the weekend series.
