AUM’s Golden Goal Lifts Warhawks over Tigers in OT

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Auburn Montgomery sophomore Charlie Elliot netted the golden goal in the 95th minute to defeat West Alabama men's soccer team 3-2 in a GSC matchup Friday night at Tiger Stadium. 

AUM took the lead in the 10th minute of the match when midfielder Renan Diniz scored the first goal for the Warhawks.

With three minutes left in the first half, Harry Colville took a shot but it bounced off an AUM player's leg when Vince Stans came in right behind Colville and kicked it past the keeper to tie the match 1-1 before heading into the half.

Hugo Courchinoux scored the second goal of the night for the Tigers to take the 2-1 lead at the 62:01 mark. 

AUM forward Ben Alram scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute to bring the match to a 2-2 tie.

Neither team could pull ahead, which resulted in a 2-2- tie before heading into overtime.

The Warhawks scored in the first 48 seconds of overtime to lift AUM above UWA and close out the game with a 3-2 victory over the Tigers.

The Tigers outshot the Warhawks 8-7 but AUM won the shots on goal battle 6-2. 12 fouls were called in the matchup. Both teams were called for six.

The Tigers' goalie Harry Deveney allowed three goals and recorded two saves in his 90 minutes of action. 

Alexander Kraus was the Warhawks' goalie. He allowed two goals and did not have any saves.

The Tigers hit the road and head to Montevallo to battle the Falcons at Varisty Soccer Complex Sunday, Oct.17. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
