Cruz Named GSC Freshman Player of the Week

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Dana Cruz has been named Gulf South Conference Freshman Player of the Week based on her performance against Auburn Montgomery on October 15.

The Fort Walton Beach, Florida native, helped UWA defeat AUM 4-1 to improve its overall record to 7-2-2 overall and 5-1-1- in GSC play. 

The freshman took two shots and scored two out of the four goals for the Tigers against the Warhawks. 

Cruz leads the Tigers' offense with seven goals and one assist for 15 points. She has taken 18 shots, with 12 being on target, and has recorded four game-winners in the 11 matches played.

Women's soccer begins its two-match road series Friday, Oct. 22. The Tigers head to Georgia to take on Valdosta State at 6 p.m. UWA will then head to Carrollton to battle West Georgia on Sunday, Oct. 24. Kickoff time will be at noon.
