LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After opening the season on the road at the SSC/GSC Classic, the West Alabama men's basketball team gets back to action on Tuesday night, hosting Oakwood University. The two teams will tip-off at 7 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium in the home opener.
The game will be live-streamed on the UWA YouTube page with live stats on the UWA Athletics page. The matchup will also be broadcast live on SLY104.9 with commentary from Mark Gilliam.
Over the weekend, the Tigers got a significant effort from junior guard Kortrijk Miles in the matchups against Florida Southern and Eckerd College. The Dallas, Texas native scored 26 points in each game and averaged 4.5 rebounds. Robert Davis led the team under the goal to average 6.5 rebounds over the two contests.
Despite the effort, UWA went 1-1 in the classic. The Tigers defeated Florida Southern 74-69 Friday afternoon but were forced into overtime play against the Tritons to fall 69-67.
Oakwood is 3-3 entering the game against West Alabama. The USCAA opponent saw action against Tennessee Tech University on Sunday. The Ambassadors lost 107-68.
This is the third meeting between West Alabama and Oakwood, and the Tigers lead the series 3-0. In their last competition, UWA defeated the Ambassadors 73-45 inside Pruitt Hall.
There will be no admission charge for the first home game. Fans are encouraged to social distance. Doors will open one hour before tipoff.
