Four Tigers See Double-Digits in Victory Over Brewton-Parker

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Four Tigers see double-digits in a 62-46 victory over Brewton-Parker College Saturday afternoon in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. The West Alabama men's basketball winning streak moves to four to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Justin Allison and Kortrijk Miles had 15 points each to lead UWA in scoring. Shardarrion Allen and Calvin Finch had 13 and 10, respectively, to round out the Tigers double-digit shooters.

Allison, a junior from Pelham, Ala., had one of his best nights of the season to add eight assists and three rebounds to effort, while Miles and Allen were just one rebound shy of a double-double with  a game-high nine boards.

As a team, West Alabama landed 22 shots on 54 (40.7%) attempts from the floor, including 3 of 14 (21.4%) from beyond the arc. At the line, the Tigers made 15 of their 22 (68.2%) shots.

Brewton Parker hit 19 of 50 (38.0%) from the field, with 2 of 15 (13.3%) three-pointers sticking the landing. At the line, the Barons went 6-for-6. The lead scorer for the BPC was Nic Pullum, who had 14 points.

The Tigers came up hard against the Barons Defense to have their lowest-scoring game of the season. Miles held the team in the first half by scoring nine of the Tigers 30 points, and Allison led after halftime, scoring 11 of the Tigers 32 points.

Robert Davis started the scoring effort in the competition with a three-point jumper seconds after tip-off. The Barons answered immediately after to begin a scoring exchange with the Tigers that lasted the first 10 minutes of the contest.

The two teams remained within three of each other until West Alabama mounted a 10-2 scoring run. A jumper by Miles started the effort, and a dunk by Calvin Finch gave the Tigers a 17-8 lead over BPC with 7:59 left in the half.

The Barons were able to add five to the board on two layups and a basket at the line to cut West Alabama's lead to 17-13 with 6:34 remaining.

UWA put together another string of scores to improve to 24-15 over Brewton-Parker. In the final minute before the break, Allison recorded his first points with a layup and two free throws, and the Tigers entered halftime ahead of BPC 30-17.

Coming off the break, the Barons struck first with a layup a minute into the period. Allen scored first for the Tigers seconds later for a score of 32-19.

This began another scoring streak for the Tigers, and in the first eight minutes of the period, UWA scored 10 points while holding the Barons to four.

The rest of the competition continued in a similar fashion to see UWA defeat Brewton-Parker 62-46.

This competition closed out West Alabama's four-game stint at home. The Tigers will open conference play on Thursday, Dec. 2, when they travel to Clinton, Miss., to face Mississippi College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside A.E. Wood Coliseum.
