Allen Sees Career Game in 82-44 Victory Over PBA

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's basketball team went fishing, and the Sailfish were on the hook Tuesday night for a UWA victory. The Tigers defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 82-44 in their most decisive victory over a D-II opponent so far this season.

Junior guard Shardarrion Allen led the UWA offense to score a career-high 24 points in the effort. The Bolton, Miss. also had a career-high 15 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season.

Also topping the Tigers offense, this week's GSC Player of the Week Kortrijk Miles had 20 points, and Robert Davis had a season-high of 13.

Other UWA scorers include Te Smith with eight points, and Jakobi Pearson, Calvin Finch, and Justin Allison had four points each. Allison also ran the court to have a career-high nine assists.

West Alabama (9-2, 2-1) hit 32-of-64 (50.0%) from the floor, including 5-of-22 (22.7%) from beyond the arc. The team was almost perfect at the line, making 13 of its 15 free throws.

Palm Beach Atlantic (4-6, 2-2) struggled to land shots, having its worse showing of the 2021-22 season. The Sailfish landed 16 of their 44 attempts (36.4%), including 3-of-13 (23.1%) in three-point range. At the line, PBA hit just 9 of 14 (64.3%).

UWA outdid PBA in almost every category, winning the rebounding contest 39-12 and points in the paint 42-24, but the Sailfish edged out the Tigers in bench points 15-13

West Alabama will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 18, hosting conference-foe Shorter University. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
