UWA Looks to Keep Home Streak Going Against Shorter

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 18, when it hosts Shorter University. The conference game is set for 4 p.m. in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium, located on the University of West Alabama campus.

The Tigers (9-2, 2-1) enter Saturday's game after a decisive 82-44 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University on Tuesday. In the matchup, junior guard Shardarrion Allen led UWA with a career-high 24 points and 15 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. The Tigers remain undefeated at home with the victory. 

Offensively, UWA averages 70.6 points per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent in three-point range, and 72.8 percent at the free-throw line. Two-time GSC Player of the Week honoree Kortrijk Miles leads the Tigers with 18.5 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Shorter comes to Livingston after falling 88-75 to conference-foe West Florida on Monday. The Hawks are 3-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play in their fifth season with head coach Wade Anderson at the helm of the program. Mark Wilcox, Jr. led SU with 28 points in the action, and Ralph Barnett led the team in rebounds with 10 boards.

As a team, Shorter averages 71.1 points per game while shooting 41.9 percent from the field, 31.2 percent in three-point range, and 67.0 at the line. Raphael Houssou leads the offense with 11.2 points per game, and Ricky Knight leads in rebounds with 6.0 boards per game.
