Memphis, Tenn. - West Alabama dropped a 1-0 Gulf South Conference contest to Christian Brothers Saturday night at Tom Nix Stadium.
"It was far from a good day for us today," UWA head coach Ross Nelson said. "We really struggled to get a hold of the game, for a number of reasons, and ultimately poor decisions cost us the game."
UWA falls to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference. CBU improves to 1-1 both overall and in league play.
Chandler O'Dwyer scored his first goal of the season at the 57:09 off a penalty kick.
West Alabama outshot CBU 5-4 , but the Buccaneers had more shots on goal and out dueled UWA 2-1.
Vince Stans led the Tigers with one shot and one shot on goal. Kyle McLeod, Maxime Correia, and Reda Ikarrain each contributed one shot.
Three yellow cards and 21 total fouls were called in the matchup as the Buccaneers were called for 13 fouls and UWA called for eight.Â
"It's always going to be a win or learn for us. We will dust ourselves down, evaluate the game, learn from it, and go again," Nelson said.
West Alabama returns to action Friday against Mississippi College. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
