Volleyball Set for GSC Home Opener

WHEN
Wednesday, March 3 at 6 p.m.
 
WHERE
Pruitt Hall Gymnasium on the campus of the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.

ADMISSION
Admission is free for UWA Volleyball in 2021. The wearing of masks and social distancing is required. Doors will open one hour before match time and fans allowed in the gym will sit only in the bleachers on the opposite side of the court from the team benches.

ALL TIME MEETINGS
West Alabama and Mississippi College have met on the court 26 times and UWA leads the series all-time 17-9. MC has won the last two meetings after snapping an 11-match win streak for the Tigers last season. 
 
WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 0-2 on the season after opening with two matches on Feb. 24. The Tigers opened with a 3-2 loss to Montevallo and then lost 3-1 to Auburn Montgomery who hosted both matches at the AUM Athletics Complex. 
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
The Lady Choctaws are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Belhaven and Mississippi University for Women with both wins coming in straight sets, so the Tigers will be the first NCAA Division II opponent for MC. Both wins were at home.  
 
GROUP A OPENER
Wednesday's nights match is the GSC Group A opener for both squads. MC was picked to finish third in the league's Group A while the Tigers were picked fourth. 
 
UP THE ALLY
Ally Craig is among the leaders in the GSC in kills. The native of Ringgold, Georgia had 31 kills and a .295 attack percentage in the Tigers' matches against Montevallo and Auburn Montgomery.
 
WELL(S) PLAYED
MacKenzie Wells also put up a quality showing in here debut matches for UWA as the libero/defensive specialist. Wells led the Tigers with 35 digs this week. She averaged 3.89 digs per set.

JUST BEING BLOUNT
Desiree Blount has kept the offense moving in her role as the primary setter for the Tigers. The second-year student-athlete from Marietta, Georgia has 78 assists at a rate of 8.67 per set.
