LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's soccer team released the 2021 fall schedule Friday morning. The Tigers will host eight soccer matches this season, with six of them being Gulf South Conference matchups.
"We are really excited to get back to competing in the fall after the COVID-19 spring season," UWA head coach Graeme Orr said. "The players have worked extremely hard and hopefully that will give us a platform to have success this upcoming fall."
UWA opens its season on the road in Columbus, Georgia, competing in the Columbus State Collegiate Invitational. The Tigers compete against Rollins College Friday, Sept. 3, followed by University of Tampa Sunday, Sept. 5.
"We understand the conference is tough and we are excited to open up at CSU," Orr said. "CSU brings in great competition, and we want to challenge ourselves against top teams in division two."
The following weekend, Thursday, Sept. 9, UWA opens up at home against Mississippi University for Women. Kickoff will start at 7 p.m.
GSC play kicks off Friday, Sept. 17 against Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, followed by another road game against West Florida Sunday, Sept. 19.
Following the GSC opener weekend, the Tigers will host three home games at Tiger Stadium. One will be a non-conference match against Alabama Huntsville on Sept. 25, followed by two GSC matches against Delta State Oct. 1 and Mississippi College Oct. 3.
The Tigers close out their regular season on the road against Alabama Huntsville Thursday, Nov. 5.
The GSC Championship will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 14.
Two-match travel series will be played Friday/Sunday with the exception of the home opener on a Thursday and a non-conference matchup against Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, Sept. 25.
"We are looking forward to playing in front of our fans in Tiger Stadium in the fall," Orr said.
