KANSAS CITY, Mo. - United Soccer Coaches announced the University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team has received the Bronze Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award for the 2021 spring season. 

"Our vision at UWA was always to create a culture of winning with class and dignity," UWA head coach Graeme Orr said. "This award is a testament to the players' attitude and application."

The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award was created to recognize teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior, and adherence to the laws of the game.

"I am delighted for them and hopefully this gives the players the appetite to go out and achieve more accolades," Orr said.

A total of five intercollegiate teams received the Platinum Award, which is presented to teams that completed the season without receiving either a yellow or a red card. Teams honored at the Gold (1-10%), Silver (11-30%) and Bronze (31-50%) are reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season based on the number of cards accumulated by players and coaches divided by the number of games played.

A level of explanation and a complete list of recipients follows:
Platinum: No cards accumulated during the season
Gold: Percentage of cards accumulated during the season ranging from 1-10%
Silver: Percentage of cards accumulated during the season ranging from 11-30%
Bronze: Percentage of cards accumulated during the season ranging from 31-50%
