LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama women's soccer team continued its yearly streak of academic excellence during the 2020-21 academic year. The Tigers qualified for the Team Academic Award after achieving a grade point average of 3.55 announced by United Soccer Coaches Monday evening, making this the Tigers eighth consecutive award.

"To achieve an academic excellence award eight year in a row shows the standards plus the commitment culture set by the players and staff," UWA head coach Graeme Orr said. "To show a high level of consistency in the classroom over a substantial period of time is phenomenal."

To qualify for this award, a team must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. A total of 609 soccer teams from around the country earned the USC Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year. A total of 93 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

The Tigers return to action Friday, Oct. 1 in a Gulf South Conference matchup against Delta State. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
