Men’s Soccer Takes Tough Loss to Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The University of West Alabama men's soccer team fell short to Lincoln Memorial Friday afternoon at LMU Soccer Complex in Harrogate, Tennessee.

UWA dropped to 1-1 overall while Lincoln Memorial improved to 1-1.

LMU started the scoring with back-to-back goals in the 12th and 14th minute to get a 2-0 lead over the Tigers.

West Alabama cut the score to 2-1 in the second half when Liam Condone scored at the 54:17 mark off an assist from Jared Walker.

The Railsplitters added another goal at the 61:64 mark to take back the lead in the match.

The second goal for the Tigers came from Harry Colville when he crossed the ball and it deflected off a Lincoln Memorial player and found its way into the net to put the score at 3-2.

UWA could not produce any more goals, making the final score 3-2. 

The Tigers out shot the Railsplitters, 21-13, but the margin was a tie for shots on goal with both UWA and LMU having four.

There were five yellow cards and 20 fouls called. LMU was called for nine fouls while UWA was called for 12.

West Alabama returns to action Friday, Sept. 10 with a matchup against the University of Tampa. Kickoff will start at 4 p.m. at Laker Field in Morrow, Georgia.
