West Alabama Falls to Lee, 60-47

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball guard Bria Dent posted her ninth double-double and was the only Tiger to score in double figures against Lee University in the 60-47 loss on Saturday afternoon inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 

The Tigers dropped to 12-6 overall and are now 6-4 in GSC play. Lee University improved to 15-3 overall and are now 8-2 in the conference.

Bria Dent led the Tigers offense with 19 points and brought down 12 boards.

In the first quarter, Dent scored UWA's first five points. With 6:55 minutes remaining, Justyna Butler drained a three-pointer to improve the Tigers lead 8-2. With 4:06 left in the period, the Tigers went on an 8-0 run to give UWA the 18-6 advantage over the Flames. Lee hit a three-pointer and Garrett-Hammett ended with a free throw to close out the first quarter with the Tigers leading 19-9. 

In the second quarter, Lee fired back and outscored UWA 19-6, which allowed the Flames to  take the 28-25 lead before halftime.

Lee started the third quarter by going on a 13-4 run, improving its advantage to 41-29. With 3:13 minutes left in the third quarter, the Tigers went on a 9-2 run to cut the Flames lead 43-37.

In the fourth quarter, the Flames out scored the Tigers 17-10 to close out the game with a 60-47 victory over the Tigers.

The Tigers shot 36 percent (17-of-47) from the field and 61 percent (11-of-18) from the free throw line. 

Haley Schubert led the Flames with 17 points, five assists, and three rebounds. 

Lee shot 37 percent (22-of-60) from the floor and 76 percent (13-of-17)  from the free throw line.

UWA heads to Pensacola, Fla. on Thursday, Feb. 3 to battle West Florida in a GSC matchup. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at UWF Field House.
