Tigers Finish Regular Season as No. 3 Seed, Sacher Scored Two Goals in the Win Over Shorter

ROME, Ga. - West Alabama men's soccer defeated Shorter 2-0 to wrap up the 2022 regular season Sunday afternoon at Ben Brady Field. The Tigers finished as the No. 3 seed and clinched a home game in the Gulf South Conference Championship Tournament. 
 
The Tigers ended the season with a 6-4-5 overall record and are now 6-1-4 in the conference. The Hawks moved to 3-10-1 overall and are 0-9-1 in GSC play.
 
Patrick Sacher scored two goals in the matchup in the second half. The first goal came at the 52:51 mark. The second was a late goal in the 81st minute, allowing the Tigers to claim the 2-0 victory over the Hawks. 
 
UWA took 15 shots compared to Shorter's two shots. The Tigers held the advantage in corner kicks, 3-2. There were 22 fouls called in the matchup. UWA was called for 12, while Shorter was called for nine. 
 
The Tigers will now move into postseason play on Sunday. UWA will host the No. 6 seed at Tiger Stadium. An opponent and a time will be announced at a later date.
