UWA Men’s Cross Country Team Wins Bobcat Invitational

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - West Alabama men's cross country team had three runners place in the top-10 finishers on the way to win the Bobcat Invitational Saturday afternoon at Council Farm Course.

Audrick Pyronneau won the 8k race and stopped the clock at 25:44.3. There were 61 runners in the event. Dancan Kibet placed fourth, while Seth Lord came in seventh.

Jayson Lynch ranked 12th, Shadrack Bett placed 15th, Gary Mata finished 25th, and Dave Hubart placed 31st.

There were a total of seven teams that competed in the men's event. UT Southern was second, followed by Georgia College in third, Young Harris in fourth, and Georgia Military College rounding out the top-five.

Georgia Southwestern came in sixth and Virgin Islands College placed seventh.

The UWA women's cross country team had four runners compete in the 5K race. Faith Jepchirchir placed second with a time of 20:15.0. Haina Franco placed 10th, Kirsten Eason finished 13th, and Kayley Key finished 21st.

There were 71 runners in the women's 5K race. Georgia College won the meet on the women's side. UT Southern was second, followed by Young Harris in third, Georgia Southwestern in fourth, Middle Georgia State placed fifth to round out the top five in the 10-team field.

Next up for the Tigers, both men's and women's cross country teams will head to Huntsville, Alabama to compete in the Charger Invitational hosted by Alabama Huntsville.
