Four Tigers Lead UWA to 75-64 Victory over Spring Hill

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Four Tigers scored double figures to lead the West Alabama women's basketball team to a 75-64 victory over Spring Hill College in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. The Tigers improved to 3-1 on the season. The Badgers dropped to 1-4.
 
Bria Dent posted her fourth double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Dent also made five steals. Jala Williams added 17 points, had five rebounds, made five steals, and dropped four dimes. 
 
Maryanne Logsdon added 11 points, dished out six assists, and had four rebounds. Zoe Watts had 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
 
As a unit, UWA shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the floor, 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from beyond the arc, and 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the free throw line.
 
The Badgers started the first quarter with a 15-13 lead. UWA posted 25 points in the second quarter compared to SHC's 15, giving West Alabama a 38-30 lead heading into halftime.
 
Spring Hill outscored UWA 18-14 in the third quarter. The Tigers battled back and scored 23 points in the fourth quarter, allowing UWA to claim the 75-64 win over SHC. Williams posted 13 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter. 
 
The Tigers turned the Badgers' 22 turnovers into 23 points. UWA won in bench points, 12-6. Spring Hill held the advantage for points in the paint, 36-32.
 
Spring Hill shot 41.5 percent (22-of-53) from the field, 18.2 percent (2-of-11) from the three-point range, and 70 percent (18-of-25) from the foul line. 
 
Iamunique Bowie led the Badgers offense with 19 points. Jordan Bowden had eight boards. Jalish Mann made three steals. 
 
UWA returns to action on Saturday to take on Auburn Montgomery. Tip-off is for 2 p.m. inside AUM Athletics Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.
