Men’s Basketball Takes Down AUM 81-51 in GSC Action

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball team grabbed an 81-51 victory over Auburn Montgomery in Gulf South Conference action Saturday evening at AUM Athletics Complex.
 
The Tigers improved to 5-0 overall and are 2-0 in GSC play. The Warhawks dropped to 1-4 overall and are 0-2 in the conference.
 
Thaddeus Williams led the Tigers with 19 points, three assists, three steals, and three rebounds. Terry Durham posted 16 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Shardarrion Allen added 16 points and eight rebounds. Justin Allison had 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the matchup.
 
UWA had a significant 18-0 run and outscored AUM 44-18 in the first half of the game. Allen had 12 points at the half, while Durham had 11 points. 
 
The Tigers closed the second half with 37 points to claim the 81-51 victory over the Warhawks. 
 
UWA turned AUM's 21 turnovers into 26 points. The Tigers dominated in bench points, 26-6, and points in the paint, 48-26. 
 
The Tigers limited the Warhawks to shoot 38.8 percent (19-of-49) from the field, 18.2 percent (2-of-11) from the three-point range, and 55 percent (11-of-20) from the foul line. 
 
Jalen Gaston dropped 20 points, had four rebounds, and made three steals for AUM. James Graham led on the board with five rebounds and six points. 
 
The Tigers return to action on Monday as they host Alabama Huntsville. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
