Men's Hoops Falls to UAH in Overtime, 69-67

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Despite Shardarrion Allen scoring a season-high of 24 points, Alabama Huntsville came away with a 69-67 overtime victory over West Alabama men's basketball team in Gulf South Conference action Monday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
 
The Tigers dropped to 5-1 overall and are now 2-1 in GSC play. The Chargers improved to 6-2 overall and are now 2-1 in the conference. 
 
Allen led the Tigers' offense with 24 points, five assists, three rebounds, and a steal. Kuran Garner posted 14 points, four assists, and four rebounds. Terry Durham had 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal. 
 
UWA shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the floor, 20.8 percent (5-of-24) from beyond the arc, and 80 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line
 
West Alabama held a 36-18 lead over Alabama Huntsville heading into halftime. Down 63-61 with six seconds left in the game, Allen made a layup, ending the game in a 63-63 tie.
 
The Chargers outscored the Tigers 6-4 in overtime, allowing UAH to claim the 69-67 win over UWA.
 
Chaney Johnson scored 29 points, had eight rebounds, and made three steals to lead the Chargers' offense. CJ Williamson posted 11 points and four rebounds. Jack Kostel had 10 points and five assists. 
 
The Chargers shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the field, 29.2 percent (7-of-24) from the three-point range, and 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the foul line. 
 
The Tigers return to action on Monday as they host Alabama Huntsville. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
