UWA Volleyball Takes Montevallo to Four Sets

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama volleyball team took Montevallo to four sets but came up short in the Gulf South Conference match and took a 3-1 (25-10, 25-18, 23-25, 25-11) defeat Thursday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.

The Tigers dropped to 6-24 overall and are 1-14 in GSC play. The Falcons improved to 18-12 and 10-5 in the conference.

Nathalia Medeiros was the only Tiger to post double figures in kills. Medeiros registered 12 kills, hitting .346. Ally Craig added nine kills. Johanna Martin had seven. Chyna Dixon was credited with 20 assists. Madison Fisher spun in five service aces and tallied nine digs. MacKenzie Wells also had nine digs. As a unit, UWA had 36 kills, 34 assists, and 38 digs. 

The Tigers dropped the first two sets (25-10, 25-18) but came back and won the third set. UWA had multiple runs in the third set to close the set with a 25-23 win. Montevallo took set four, 25-11, to come away with the 3-1 victory over UWA. 

Montevallo held the advantage in kills (54-36), aces (10-8), blocks (7-4), assists (51-34), and digs (53-38).

Allie Dishman led Montevallo's attackers with 14 kills, hitting .500. Macy Martin added 13 kills, hitting .667. Sav Roys had 27 assists. Casey Hendrixson tallied 16 digs. Montevallo posted a .378 hitting percentage with 54 kills and 12 errors on 111 total attacks. 

The Tigers close out the season Friday against Alabama Huntsville for senior night. First serve is set for 6 p.m. in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
