The Tigers Host Shorter on Friday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball team returns to action on Friday to host a Gulf South Conference game against Shorter. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.

The Tigers are 5-1 overall and 2-1 in GSC play. The Hawks are 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.

This is the 16th meeting between West Alabama and Shorter. The Tigers lead the series 9-6. In the latest matchup, UWA defeated the Hawks 73-67 in February 2022.

Four Tigers are averaging double figures. Terry Durham leads the Tigers' offense, averaging 14.7 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. Shardarrion Allen averages 13.8 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Justin Allison averages 11.8 points per game, four rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists per game. Kuran Garner averages 11.7 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists per game.

As a squad, UWA averages 83.3 points per game, shooting 48.8 percent from the floor, 32 percent from the three-point range, and 68.8 percent from the free throw line. The Tigers' defense leads the GSC, holding its opponent to 56.5 points per game, ranking fourth nationally. UWA's scoring margin is 26.8 points per game.

The sophomore point guard Raphael Houssou leads the Hawks' offense with 13.7 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. Senior guard Ricky Knight Jr. averages 13.3 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. Jaden Durham leads the Hawks in assists with 20.

General admission tickets will be $5 at the entrance or can be purchased ahead of time here. Children five and under will be admitted free.
