Four Tigers Post Double Figures in 75-67 Win over West Georgia

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Four Tigers posted double figures to lead West Alabama men's basketball team to a 75-67 victory over West Georgia Sunday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium in GSC action. 

The Tigers improved to 10-2 overall and are 6-2 in GSC play. West Georgia dropped to 6-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference. 

The Tigers shot 43.8 percent (21-of-48) from the floor, 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from the three-point range, and 66.7 percent (26-of-39) from the foul line.

Justin Allison led the Tigers with 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Shardarrion Allen also posted 18 points and grabbed five rebounds. 

Kuran Garner posted 14 points and had six rebounds. Terry Durham added 13 points and five rebounds. CJ Melton grabbed eight rebounds in the matchup. 

Both teams went back and forth to start the game. UWA made a pair of threes from Thaddeus Williams and Marvin Price on back-to-back possessions, giving the Tigers a one-point advantage with 9:50 remaining in the first half. 

At the 5:17 mark, the Wolves had a 24-19 lead, but Price's free throw, two jumpers from Garner, and a layup from Durham tied the game at the half, 26-26. 

In the first five minutes of the second half, UWA went on a 15-3 run to take a 38-29 lead over UWG. The Wolves answered with a 14-4 run to trim the Tigers' lead to 48-43. 

In the final two minutes of the game, UWA made nine free throws to claim the 75-67 win over West Georgia. 

UWG shot 41 percent (25-of-61) from the field, 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from beyond the arc, and 75 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line.

Zawdie Jackson and Michael Zabetakis posted double figures for the Wolves. Jackson dropped 17 points. Zabetakis had 10 points. 

The Tigers return to action on Dec. 31 to host Union University at 4 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium after their holiday break.
