Five Tigers Posted Double Figures in the 77-69 Victory over Union

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Five Tigers posted double figures to lead West Alabama men's basketball team to a 77-69 Gulf South Conference victory over Union Saturday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers improved to 11-2 overall and are 7-2 in GSC play. Union dropped to 8-5 overall and are 7-2 in the conference. 
 
Shardarrion Allen led the Tigers with 15 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Kuran Garner posted 14 points, had four rebounds, and four assists. 
 
Thaddeus Williams had 12 points. Justin Allison posted 11 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out three assists. Terry Durham also added 11 points and three rebounds. 
 
Marvin Price added eight points and four rebounds. CJ Melton grabbed eight rebounds and three points in the matchup to round out the Tigers' scoring.  
 
The Tigers jumped to a 10-3 run to start the game. At the 13:51 mark, the Bulldogs went on a 10-3 run to tie the game at 13-13. Both teams went back and forth for most of the first half. The Tigers scored seven points and pulled ahead of the Bulldogs 42-37 to take the lead at the half. 
 
UWA came out of halftime with a 5-0 run. Union scored six points to trim UWA's lead to 47-43 at the 16:13 mark. With five minutes remaining, the Tigers went on an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 66-52. Both teams went back and forth, but UWA stayed ahead and claimed the 77-69 win over Union.
 
Union shot 38.6 percent (22-of-57) from the field, 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from beyond the arc, and 80 percent (20-of-25) from the free throw line. Tylandrius Parks dropped 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Bulldogs. 
 
The Tigers return to action on Monday to host Christian Brothers at 7 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
