Standout Performances from Logsdon and Dent Led Tigers to 61-47 Victory over UWG

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball guards Maryanne Logsdon and Bria Dent had standout performances and combined for 45 points in the 61-47 win over West Georgia Sunday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers improved to 9-3 overall and are 6-2 in GSC play. The Wolves dropped to 4-7 overall and are 3-5 in the conference. 
 
Logsdon led the Tigers with 25 points and went 5-for-7 from beyond the arc. She also had five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Dent posted 20 points and nine rebounds. 
 
Jala Williams scored five points, five rebounds, and four assists. Takesia Barnes and Zoe Watts both had four points. Barnes grabbed seven rebounds. Kamille Clark added three points and three rebounds. 
 
As a squad, UWA shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) from the floor and 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from beyond the arc. 
 
The Tigers held a 34-16 lead over the Wolves at the half. UWA stayed ahead and did not allow any lead changes, allowing the Tigers to claim the 61-47 win over the Wolves. 
 
Stephanie Torres scored 15 points for UWG. Peace Okeke led on the board, grabbing six rebounds in the matchup. 
 
The Tigers limited the Wolves to shooting 34.8 percent (16-of-46) from the field, 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from the three-point range, and 50 percent (9-of-18) from the foul line. 
 
West Alabama outrebounded West Georgia 41-26 and turned the Wolves' 14 turnovers into 19 points. The Tigers won in points in the paint, 26-20, but the Wolves held the advantage in bench points, 10-7.
 
The Tigers return to action on Dec. 31 as they face No. 20 Union University in a GSC match. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
