Dent Posted 23 Points and Grabbed 18 Rebounds in the 65-53 Win over Shorter

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Bria Dent posted her sixth double-double of the season, dropping 23 points and grabbing 18 rebounds to lead West Alabama women's basketball team to a 65-53 Gulf South Conference victory over Shorter on Friday inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
 
The Tigers improved to 6-1 overall and are now 4-0 in GSC play. The Hawks dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference. 
 
Along with Dent, Jala Williams and Maryanne Logsdon posted double figures. Williams had 12 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Logsdon added 11 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals. As a squad, UWA shot 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from the field. 
 
The Tigers were down 31-30 at the half. UWA and Shorter scored 13 points in the third quarter, giving the Hawks the 44-43 lead. The Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Hawks 22-9, allowing the Tigers to claim the 65-53 win. 
 
Keyra Peterson had 14 points and seven rebounds in the matchup. Kenley Woods added 11 points, five assists, four steals, and three assists. Derrica McCall grabbed seven rebounds. 
 
The Tigers limited the Hawks to shooting 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from the floor, 20 percent (2-of-10) from beyond the arc, and 45 percent (9-of-20) from the free throw line. 
 
The Tigers host a GSC matchup against Lee University on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
