Tigers Grind Out 60-53 Win over Christian Brothers

 
LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball team trailed most of the game but grinded out a 60-53 win over Christian Brothers Monday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 

With the win, the Tigers improved to 12-2 overall and are 8-2 in GSC play. The Bucs dropped to 2-11 overall and are2-8 in the conference. 


It was a slow start for UWA, as CBU scored the first nine points. A jumper from Allen broke the run. The Bucs held the 31-23 advantage at halftime. 

 
Coming out of the half, both teams went back and forth. At the 16:30 mark, the Tigers went on an 8-0 run to trim the Bucs lead to 37-35. CBU stayed ahead of UWA until Durham made a layup at the 5:30 mark to take the 50-49 lead. The Tigers extended the lead in the last five minutes of the game by free throws and two jumpers, allowing UWA to claim the 60-53 win. 
 

Four Tigers posted double figures. Shardarrion Allen led the Tigers with 14 points and five rebounds. Terry Durham posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Justin Allison and Thaddeus Williams both had 10 points and three rebounds. Allison had four assists, and Williams had two. 
 
CBU shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the field, 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from beyond the arc, and 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the free throw line. Nick Deifel posted 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.


The Tigers return to action on Thursday as they take on West Florida on the road. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside UWF Field House in Pensacola, Florida.
