Tigers Take on Mississippi College and Delta State on the Road

CLINTON, Miss. - West Alabama men's basketball team battles two Gulf South Conference teams on the road this weekend. 
 
The Tigers head to Clinton, Mississippi, on Friday to take on Mississippi College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. The Tigers head into the weekend with a 6-2 overall record and 3-2 in GSC play. Mississippi College is 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference. 
 
This is the 17th meeting between West Alabama and Mississippi College. The Tigers lead the series 12-4. In the latest matchup, UWA defeated the Choctaws 65-43 in February.

Four Tigers are averaging double figures. Terry Durham leads the Tigers' offense, averaging 14.6 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. Durham leads UWA with 14 steals, ranking him fourth in the conference. Shardarrion Allen averages 13.9 points per game and five rebounds per game. 

Justin Allison averages 11 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 2.4 assists per game. Kuran Garner averages 10.8 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game. 

The Tigers' defense leads the nation in defense, holding its opponent to 54.9 points per game. UWA averages 76.5 points per game, shooting 48.8 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from the three-point range, and 68.7 percent from the free throw line.  UWA's scoring margin is 21.6 points per game.

The junior guard Tradavis Thompson leads the Choctaws' offense with 16.9 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. Senior forward Galen Smith averages 15.1 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game. Miles Miller leads the Choctaws in assists with 67. 

UWA and Delta State face off on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. inside Walter Sillers Coliseum. The Statesmen head into the weekend with a 1-7 overall record and are 1-5 in the conference. 

Junior forward Maalik Cartwright leads DSU's offense with 19.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. Sam Smith leads in rebounds, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game and 15.9 points per game. 

General admission tickets are $8 at the entrance or can be purchased ahead of time here. Youth (6-18) and senior citizens (60+) tickets are $5. Children five and under will be admitted free.
