Tigers Defeat Mississippi College 69-59 on the Road

CLINTON, Miss. - West Alabama men's basketball team defeated Mississippi College 69-59 in Gulf South Conference action Friday evening inside A.E. Wood Coliseum.
 
The Tigers improved to 7-2 on the season and are 4-2 in GSC play. The Choctaws dropped to 6-4 overall and are 3-4 in the conference. 
 
Terry Durham posted his third double-double of the season, leading the Tigers with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Shardarrion Allen posted 15 points and five rebounds. Kuran Garner also had 15 points, made three steals, and grabbed two rebounds. 
 
Thaddeus Williams had eight points and eight rebounds. Also, Marvin Price posted eight points and grabbed four rebounds. Justin Allison added six points, four assists, and three boards. CJ Melton had two points in the matchup to round out the Tigers' scoring.
 
The Tigers shot 50 percent (28-of-56) from the floor and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the free throw line. 
 
The Tigers made a 16-4 run in the first half to take the 35-19 lead heading into the half. The Choctaws posted 40 points in the second half compared to the Tigers' 34. UWA still held the lead and claimed the 69-59 win over Mississippi College. The score was tied three times, and there was only one lead exchange in the matchup. 
 
UWA turned the Choctaws' 13 turnovers into 15 points. The Tigers held the advantage in bench points, 16-12, and points in the paint, 42-38.
 
Tradavis Thompson led the Choctaws' offense with 22 points, two steals, and two rebounds. Anthony Ratliff Jr. posted 10 points and five rebounds for MC.
 
The Choctaws shot 38.7 percent (24-of-62) from the field, 16.7 percent (2-of-12) from the three-point range, and 75 percent (9-of-12) from the foul line. 
 
The Tigers head to Cleveland, Mississippi, to take on Delta State in a GSC matchup on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. inside Walter Sillers Coliseum.
