Three Tigers Post Double Figures in the 70-38 Win over Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss. - West Alabama women's basketball team hit nine three-pointers and limited the Choctaws' offense in the dominating 70-38 performance against Mississippi College Friday evening inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. 
 
The Tigers improved to 7-2 overall and are 5-1 in GSC play. The Choctaws dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the conference. UWA shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the field, 60 percent (9-of-15) from the three-point range, and 75 percent (9-of-12) from the foul line.
 
Three Tigers posted double figures in the matchup. Bria Dent continued her double-double streak, posting 19 points and 10 rebounds. Dent also made three steals and dished out two assists.
 
Zoe Watts dropped 17 points. Maryanne Logsdon added 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Jala Williams led the Tigers with 11 rebounds. Williams, Aliyah Dade, and Augusta Arnold posted six points. Allison Wallace added three points to round out the Tigers' scoring for the night. 
 
UWA held a 34-18 lead heading into halftime. The Tigers outscored the Choctaws in the third quarter, 18-13, improving the lead to 52-31. West Alabama went on an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter. Arnold made two jumpers with a minute left in the game, and Wallace knocked down a three-pointer to close the game out with a 70-38 win over the Choctaws. 
 
The Tigers limited the Choctaws to shooting 22.8 percent (13-of-57) from the floor, 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the free throw line. 
 
Ava Knoedl had 15 points and five rebounds for Mississippi College.
 
The Tigers take on Delta State in a GSC matchup on the road on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Walter Sillers Coliseum in Cleveland, Mississippi.
