LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's basketball team brings the game home Saturday, hosting conference opponent West Georgia inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
The Tigers (19-4, 12-3 Gulf South Conference) are riding a four-game winning streak after defeating Shorter University, 73-67, on the road on Wednesday. UWA is in a prime position to make the GSC playoffs as it plays the final five games of the regular season, four of which will be on its home court. West Alabama is currently No. 1 in the league standings and No. 4 in the D2SIDA Men's Basketball South Region Poll.
UWA's offense is led by reigning GSC Player of the Week Shardarrion Allen and three-time Player of the Week Kortrijk Miles. Miles leads the Tigers with 19.7 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game. This week, Allen was honored by the GSC after hitting a career-high 26 points against Valdosta State. He is the only West Alabama player other than Miles averaging double-digit scoring with 13.4 points per game.
West Georgia (12-10, 9-6 GSC) is fourth in the conference standings after defeating Lee, 71-66, earlier in the week. The Wolves are led offensively by Kadeim Jones and Seth Brown-Carter, who average 14.5 points per game and 14.4 points, respectively. Michael Zabetakis and Jalen Sasser lead the team in rebounds, averaging 5.3 boards each.
This will be the second time these two teams face this season. The Tigers defeated the Wolves 68-58 on the road in December. UWA will look to complete the sweep on Saturday.
