UWA Takes Down UWG in a GSC Matchup

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's basketball team defeated West Georgia in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium 83-76 in a Gulf South Conference matchup. West Alabama improved to 20-4 overall and 13-3 in GSC play. West Georgia dropped to 12-11 overall with a 9-7 GSC record. 
 
The Tigers had four players that scored double digits. Kortrijk Miles scored 20 points and had 10 boards during the contest. Justin Allison and Robert Davis both added 17 points. Shardarrion Allen chipped in with 10 points. 
 
UWA shot the ball 51 percent (29-of-49) from the field, 81.8 percent (27-of-33) from the free-throw line, and 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from three-point range. 
 
UWA and UWG had a back and forth first half and at the break, the Wolves led the Tigers 37-36.
 
UWA took the lead for the remainder of the game after a made free throw by Allison at the 9:03 mark. 
 
UWA took its largest lead of the game with 4:35 remaining on the clock after a made three-point basket by Davis. 
 
In the final three minutes of the game, the Tigers shot 14-of-16 from the free-throw line to come out with a victory against the Wolves 83-76. 
 
UWG shot the ball 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the field, 37.9 percent (11-of-29) from beyond the arc, and 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the free throw line. The Wolves were led by Kadeim Jones who scored 22 points in the game. 
 
UWA will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16 against Alabama Huntsville inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium with a tip-off time set for 7:00 p.m.
