JACKSON, Tenn. – The No. 23 West Alabama men's basketball team will travel to Jackson, Tenn., to take on Union University on Saturday, Feb. 19. The Tigers will continue a season-long battle to stay on the top of the conference standings as they take on the Bulldogs, No. 2 in the conference, for the second time this season.

UWA hosted UU for an 88-80 loss in late January, ending a 10-game home winning streak inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. Two-time Gulf South Conference Player of the Week Shardarrion Allen led the Tigers with 19 points, and Justin Allison had 16.

West Alabama is 21-4 on the season and 14-3 in GSC for the No. 1 spot in the league. The Tigers average 71.2 points per game as a squad while holding their opponents to 61.0 points. UWA also outrebounds its competition by more than five boards per game.

The Tiger offense goes through Kortrijk Miles, Allen, and Allison, who average double-figure scoring. Miles leads the team with 19.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Allen sees 13.4, and Allison adds 10.2.

Union (19-6, 13-4) is coming off a 74-69 loss at Christian Brothers University. Against the Buccaneers, Tylandrius Parks and Boe Nguidjol had 17 points each, and Tyree Boykins added 13.

This season, the Bulldogs average 78.6 points per game, allowing 69.7. Boykins leads the team to score 18.7 points, and Nguidjol leads in rebounding with 7.0 boards per game.

With just three games left in the regular season, the game is crucial to determining the 2021-22 GSC Regular Season Men's Basketball Champions. The matchup will stream live with live stats on the Union Athletics website. The game will broadcast live on SLY104.9 with commentary by Mark Gilliam. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at Fred Delay Gymnasium.
