Men's Hoops Closes Regular Season at Home

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's basketball team will play its last two games of the 2021-22 regular season at home, hosting Delta State on Thursday and Mississippi College on Saturday inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. Thursday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., and Saturday is set to tip-off at 4 p.m.

Last Saturday afternoon, the Tigers most recently had their six-game win streak snapped with an 87-66 loss at Union. It was the second loss to the Bulldogs this season, giving both teams a 14-4 record in the Gulf South Conference and putting them at No. 1 and No. 2 in the league standings.

UWA (21-5, 14-4) now turns its attention to Delta State. The Tigers played the Statesman (10-14, 9-9) earlier and fell 62-55 on the road. West Alabama hopes to prevent the season sweep and looks to Kortrijk Miles and Shardarrion Allen to head the offense.

Delta State is riding a two-game losing streak against Auburn Montgomery and Montevallo. The Stateman dropped a midweek match to the Warhawks, 61-57, and a Saturday competition 86-70 versus the Falcons.

The Tigers will also face off against the Choctaws (7-17, 5-13) for the second time. UWA defeated MC 70-60 inside the A.E. Coliseum to begin conference play.

Mississippi College will enter Saturday's game after taking on Alabama Huntsville on Thursday. The Choctaws fell 72-55 versus Lee University earlier in the week.

The live stats and live stream for both competitions will be available at uwaathletics.com. The games will broadcast live on SLY104.9 with commentary by Mark Gilliam and Daniel Tully.
