UWA Travels to Shorter for a GSC Matchup

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men's basketball team continues Gulf South Conference play on Wednesday, Feb. 9 against Shorter. The contest will tip-off at 6:30 at the Winthrop-King Centre in Rome, Ga.
 
This will be the second meeting between the teams this season as the Tigers got a win 80-65 in Pruitt Hall on December 18, 2021.
 
The Tigers will enter the game with an 18-4 overall record with an 11-3 GSC record. UWA sits in second place in the conference behind Union. Shorter enters the game with a 4-14 overall record and a 1-12 record in GSC play. Shorter's only conference win came at Mississippi College by a score of 61-56.
 
UWA is led by Kortrijk Miles who averages 19.8 points per game along with 8.4 rebounds per game. Miles leads the GSC in scoring and rebounding. Miles hit the game winning shot in the Tigers last win against Valdosta State.
 
Shardarrion Allen won last week's GSC Player of the Week award while averaging 19 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals as he helped the Tigers go 2-0 in last week's action.
 
The Tiger guards Robert Davis and Justin Allison both average just over 11 points per game in GSC play.
 
The Tiger defense has proven to be one of the best in the country by only giving up 59.7 points per game, which is third best in the country.
 
Shorter is led by Ricky Knight Jr. Knight averages 11. Points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game.
 
The Tigers are 8-4 all-time against the Hawks and this will be the 13th matchup between the teams.
 
The game will be broadcasted on SLY 104.9 with play-by-play from Mark Gilliam
