Don’t Sleep on Saturday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – There is no time to sleep for fans of West Alabama Athletics on Saturday.

It's plain and simple. If you snooze you lose, or you at least miss something you will have wish you'd seen.

Albeit out of town, UWA tennis begins the day with a neutral site match against St. Mary's of Texas at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on the campus of West Florida at 9 a.m.

Super Tiger Day begins in Sumter County at 10:30 a.m. on the UWA campus with the Annual Red-White spring football scrimmage at Tiger Stadium. With ongoing construction at the stadium, fans are asked to park in the Wallace Hall lots and sit on the visitor's side of the stadium. Admission is free.

It's not happening in Livingston, but it's very important. At 11 a.m. the Tiger men's basketball team plays in the first round of the NCAA South Regional against Embry-Riddle at Rick Case Arena on the campus of Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Catch Mark Gilliam's play-by-play on SLY 104.9 while you turn down the sound on the live video feed or follow on live stats.

The Patrick Ferris/Coach King Golf Tournament at Livingston Country Club begins at 12:30 p.m. Entry fee is $100 with proceeds going to the Jim and Sandy King Scholarship Fund. Contact Dee Outlaw for entry information at cdo@uwa.edu or 205-499-0614. Entries are limited, so register as soon as possible.

At 1 p.m. both the West Alabama softball and baseball teams are host to West Florida at the UWA Softball Complex and Tartt Field, respectively. Live stats will be available for both, as will a live video feed on the UWA YouTube Page. Admission to both baseball and softball are free on Saturday.

At 6:30 p.m. the time arrives for the Annual Party of the Year when UWA Football hosts the 2022 DrawDown at the Bell Conference Center.

Online tickets are available for $100. Should tickets remain the day of the event, they will be sold at the door while they last. A ticket is good for admission for two, as well as dinner and drinks and one DrawDown entry for a chance to win $5,000.

You don't have to be present to win and you are allowed to give your proxy to someone at the event to make decisions on your behalf.

Fans who purchased Drawdown tickets to last year's event, which was cancelled due to Covid, can enter this year's event on the 2021 ticket. If they also purchase a 2022 ticket, both will be entered in the 2022 DrawDown.

The catering will be handled by Big Mike's Steakhouse and live music provided by RTR Pro Entertainment of Tuscaloosa.
