Tigers Come Back for Sunday Split With UWF

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama rallied with a five-spot in the sixth inning to take a come-from-behind 6-4 win over 21st ranked West Florida and earn a split in a Gulf South Conference baseball doubleheader Sunday at Tartt Field. The Argos won the first game, 6-3.
 
The Tigers are now 6-17 overall and 4-5 in GSC play.  West Florida is 13-7 overall and 10-2 in league action.
 
The big blow in the Tigers' game two fifth inning was a three-run homer by Jake Nemith, his fifth of the year.  He also had an RBI single in the fourth frame.  Braxton Bullard had a two-run single in the fourth inning and Colden Peeples chipped in pair of hits. 
 
Preston Moore had a two-run triple for the Argos in the sixth.
 
Peyton Warren (2-4) earned the win in game two for UWA.  Mason Hollander picked up his second save.  Warren and Hollander did not allow an earned run. Tyler Dowdy (3-2) was the UWF losing pitcher.
 
Brayden Lyman had run-scoring singles for the Tigers in the fourth and sixth innings in game one.  Nemith added a solo homer.  Gavin Rogers collected four hits for the Tigers in game one, while Nemith and Kyle Vogler chipped in two hits each.
 
West Florida was led by Jadon Fryman's three hits.  Cullman O'Shea added a double and a single to the Argo's attack.
 
West Florida starter  Salvatore Ferro (3-0) picked up the win.  Chase Wilkerson earned his first save.  Tiger starter Brenton Thiels (2-2) absorbed the loss.
 
The Tigers host Spring Hill at 3 p.m. Wednesday in a non-conference game.  The Argos host Embry-Riddle next Friday in a non-conference affair.
