Tigers Face UAH in Semifinals of GSC Championship Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – West Alabama men's basketball team faces No. 4 seed Alabama Huntsville in the semifinals round of the Gulf South Conference Championship Tournament on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. at Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University.

UWA ended the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and went 16-4 in GSC play, claiming them the GSC Regular Season Champions under head coach Nick Woodruff

The Tigers defeated No. 8 seed Delta State 71-58 in the first round of the GSC Championship Tournament in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium on March 1.

West Alabama will now battle Alabama Huntsville in the semifinals round. This is the second time the Tigers and Chargers are facing each other this season. The Tigers won the contest on February 16, grabbing a 69-68 victory in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 

As a unit, the Tigers are averaging 71 points per game, shooting 43.4 percent form the floor, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.7 percent at the free throw line.

General admission tickets cost $12 and are good for all the semifinal games on Saturday. Student tickets are $5 (valid ID required) and can only be purchased at the Pete Hanna Center box office inside the arena. Admission is free for children five years and younger.
