Baseball Travels to Union for a GSC Series

JACKSON, Tenn. – West Alabama baseball hits the road to take on Union in a Gulf South Conference series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday being the doubleheader with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Fesmire Baseball Field.

The Tigers bring in a 12-26 overall record and a 9-12 record in GSC action while the Bulldogs are 14-20 and 7-13.

Josh Bower leads West Alabama with a batting average of .375 with 54 hits and seven homeruns. Bower's 54 hits are good for ninth in the conference. Third baseman Jake Nemith has 52 hits with 32 runs batted in and six homers. Nemith has stolen nine bases.

Tiger outfielder Brayden Lyman has batted in a team high of 36 runs and has hit five homeruns. Kyle Vogler brings in 40 hits and has reached base in 10 straight games. Colden Peeples has 15 stolen bases and has 38 hits.

On the mound the Tigers are expected to start Mason Hollander (2-2), Gavin Rogers (3-1), and Peyton Warren (3-7) during the weekend series. The trio have pitched 86.1 innings and given up 77 hits, 38 earned runs, and struck 91 batters out in conference play.

Union's bats are led by Grayson Swanson who has a batting average of .374 and has 40 hits with 12 being homeruns and nine doubles. Infielder Patrick Music has 45 hits, six homeruns, and gotten on base with 27 walks. Music is the reigning GSC Player of the Week.

Union has not announced a starting pitcher rotation for the series.
