Baseball Takes Final Home Game Against Miles

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama baseball picked up a 16-5 run-rule victory over Miles College Wednesday afternoon at Tartt Field in the nonconference matchup. 
 
The Tigers move to 15-31 on the year with one more Gulf Conference Series at Alabama-Huntsville on Friday and Saturday. Miles drops to 23-18 overall. 
 
The Tigers pitching staff threw five different players and Cade Miller got the start working 2.2 innings and gave up four hits and three earned runs. Austin Goode pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one hit and two unearned runs. Gates Pee (2-3), Davis Ferguson, and Luke Lankford worked the final 3.0 innings. Pee earned his second win of the season giving up one hit. 
 
Luke Walden (0-2) absorbed the loss for Miles pitching the first two innings and allowed nine total runs with eight being earned. Hunter Smith worked 3.0 innings allowed four earned runs and one unearned run. Austin Douglas worked the final frame for the Golden Bears. 
 
The Tigers trailed by two runs entering the second inning and then Josh Bower hit his ninth home run of the year to right field to start the scoring for West Alabama. The Tigers scored three runs in the second and 11 runs in the third inning and never looked back. 
 
Gavin Rogers and Bower both had two hits on the day, batted in three runs, and scored twice. Brayden Lyman knocked in two runs with two hits, and he was walked twice. Sam Smith batted in his first run of the season in the sixth inning and then scored on a wild pitch for the final UWA run. 
 
Miles was led by Will Cantey who drove in two runs on one hit. Michael Archie and James Bitner had a run batted in each. 
 
UWA's series against UAH will be broadcasted on SLY 104.9 with Will Atkinson bringing play-by-play from Charger Park in Huntsville, Ala.
