Baseball Drops Game One Against UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – West Alabama baseball lost 21-10 against Alabama-Huntsville in game one of the Gulf South Conference series at Charger Park Friday evening. 
 
UWA falls to 15-32 overall and 11-17 in GSC play on the year and the Chargers improve to 23-23 and 14-13. 
 
Peyton Warren (3-6) absorbed the loss allowing nine earned runs with five of them being from solo home runs. Josh Bledsoe, Davis Ferguson, and Brenton Thiels all pitched in relief. The Tiger pitching staff gave up 21 runs with 20 being unearned on 24 hits. 
 
Will Hotalen (2-1) earned the win in relief working the final three innings and giving up three earned runs on three hits. Wells Deloney started the game and pitched four complete innings and gave up four earned runs on two hits and struck seven batters out. Brooks Tolbert made an appearance and gave up three runs on four hits. 
 
Josh Bower led the Tigers at the plate batting in six runs on three hits including a three-run homer in the third inning. Gavin Rogers, Jonathan Thibodeau, and Houston Kitterman each had one run batted in. The Tigers had nine hits. 
 
UAH's Griffin Rivers had his first two home runs of the year two and added four runs batted in. Mitchell Rottier and Jeff Hunter collectively had seven hits and batted in six runs. UAH had seven homers as a team including one from Hunter. 
 
The Tigers will look to bounce back on Saturday in a doubleheader against the Chargers at 1 p.m. Will Atkinson will return to the radio booth to bring play-by-play on SLY 104.9.
