Baseball to Host Montevallo in GSC Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama baseball is set to host Montevallo in a three-game Gulf South Conference series at Tartt Field, beginning Friday at 3 p.m. and the doubleheader on Saturday at Noon.

The Tigers enter the weekend series with a 9-25 overall record and 7-11 in GSC play, while the Falcons are 26-8 and 11-6.

The entire weekend series will be live streamed and broadcasted on SLY 104.9 with play-by-play from Will Atkinson. Live stats will be available.

Tiger first baseman Josh Bower enters the weekend series with a batting average of .377 with 25 runs batted in, 49 hits, and six homers. Bower's 49 hits is good for third in the GSC.

West Alabama's third baseman Jake Nemith has 47 hits, 29 runs batted in, and five homers. The junior has 15 multi-hit games. West Alabama's outfielder Brayden Lyman has 32 runs batted in and five homers.

Reigning Jack's Player of the Week, Gavin Rogers has collected 33 hits, 25 runs batted in, and four homers.

Montevallo's bats are led by Jake Smallwood who has a batting average of .400 with 48 hits, 28 runs batted in, and six homers. Sam Kuchinski leads the GSC in homeruns with 14. Montevallo outfielder Riley Cain leads the conference with 20 stolen bases.

Neither team has announced a starting pitcher rotation.
