16 Tigers Inducted Into Chi Alpha Sigma

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Sixteen University of West Alabama student-athletes have been inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.
 
The UWA softball team leads the way with four inductees, including Peyton Coots, Lexy House, Karley McDaniel and Grace Self. Volleyball, football, men's track and women's track each had two inductees. Men's basketball, women's basketball, women's soccer and women's tennis had one 2022 inductee each.
 
Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and earn a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA. It is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor four-year collegiate
student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition.
 
Chi Alpha Sigma also recognizes that it is part of an athletics community made of diverse groups. The organization supports all efforts in the realm of diversity, equity and inclusion. Chi Alpha Sigma is the only honor society for college student-athletes, recognizing both athletic and academic achievements.
 
A nonprofit organization, Chi Alpha Sigma was established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The organization was founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis, whose goal was to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime.
