Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

UWA and UWF End in a Draw After 72 Minutes

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama and West Florida men's soccer teams were able to play 72 minutes of action and the game resulted in a final score of 0-0 after game officials decided to end the Gulf South Conference contest after two lightning delays at Tiger Stadium. 
 
With the draw, UWA moves to 0-2-3 on the year and 0-0-2 in GSC play and the Argos are now 3-2-1. 
 
Peter Oyetunji took a shot-on-goal in the 16th minute, but the shot was scooped up by Argos' goalkeeper Nicolas Meckien. 
 
UWA's goalkeeper Harry Deveney had two saves in the match, the first was in the 24th minute and the second was in the 48th minute. 
 
The two teams were called off the field in the 46th minute due to lightning in the area. The game was paused for 40 minutes before they resumed play. 
 
After the first delay, West Alabama's Adrian Evrard found an opportunity for a goal in the 55th minute, however Meckien picked up his third save of the game. 
 
During the 72nd minute, the game was put on delay and shortly after was announced that the contest was over. The game must be played at least 70 minutes before it can count as a full game. 
 
UWA took 11 shots and three were on target. The Argos took eight and two were on frame. The Tigers had 12 fouls and two cards were given. West Florida had eight fouls.

West Alabama will host Alabama Huntsville on Friday at Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m. in a GSC matchup. West Florida will hit the road again and play at Union.
