Volleyball Opens Newberry Tournament with a Pair of Wins

NEWBERRY, S.C. - West Alabama volleyball team claimed its first two victories of the 2022 season as the Tigers swept Southern Wesleyan (26-24, 25-20, 25-23) and Lees-McRae (25-23, 25-20, 25-15) Friday evening inside Eleazer Arena under head coach John Schmidt. With the wins, the Tigers improved to 2-4 on the season.

"The ladies came out today with confidence and played with a freestyle of aggression," Schmidt said. "One thing this team has needed to learn is how to fight in tight sets and finish sets the way they started."

We grew today, and we will grow again tomorrow! There were lots of positives to walk away with. I am proud of our accomplishments."
