Tigers Fall in Close Battle with Montevallo

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball team fell short 84-82 in a close battle with Montevallo in Gulf South Conference action Wednesday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers dropped to 13-4 overall and are now 9-4 in the GSC. The Falcons improved to 8-9 and are 6-7 in the conference. 
 
Three Tigers posted double figures, with two recording a double-double in the matchup. Terry Durham posted his fifth double-double of the season, posting 24 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. 
 
Shardarrion Allen recorded his first double-double, dropping 23 points with 10 rebounds. Justin Allison had 20 points and dished out five assists.
 
Kuran Garner and CJ Melton each had six points. Garner had five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Melton had three rebounds and two blocks. Thaddeus Williams added three points. 
 
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, heading into halftime 34-all. With 1:32 left in the game, the Falcons hit a three-pointer, giving them the 82-78 advantage. Allen made UWA's last two jumpers, but Montevallo held on to the lead and came away with the 84-82 win. There were 17 lead changes and 11 ties in the game. 
 
Montevallo shot 46.7 percent from the field, 28 percent from beyond the arc, and 61.3 percent from the foul line. James McNeil led the Falcons with 28 points. 
 
The Tigers return home on Wednesday to host Auburn Montgomery. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
