Garner's Buzzer Beater Lifts Tigers over AUM, 66-65

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball guard Kuran Garner hit the game-winning three-pointer to defeat Auburn Montgomery 66-65 Wednesday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers improved to 14-4 overall and are 10-4 in GSC play. The Warhawks dropped to 8-10 overall and are 6-8 in the conference.
 
UWA and AUM were tied 19-all at halftime. With one minute left in the game, Shardarrion Allen made two baskets to give the Tigers a 63-62 lead over the Warhawks. 
 
The Warhawks made a three-pointer with five seconds left, giving AUM the 65-63 advantage. Garner pushed the ball down the court and with one second left took the three-point shot on the right wing. The basket was good, and a few moments later, the fans stormed the court as the Tigers claimed the 66-65 win over AUM.
 
Allen led the Tigers with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Justin Allison posted 12 points, had three rebounds and assists. CJ Melton added 11 points and four rebounds.  
 
Garner had nine points and three rebounds. Terry Durham posted eight points and three rebounds. Thaddeus Williams added three points and five rebounds. 
 
James Graham led the Warhawks with 18 points and 11 rebounds. AUM shot 47.4 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from the beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the foul line. 
 
The Tigers head to Huntsville, Alabama, on Saturday to take on UAH. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
